WebIn my third study, I assessed whether adolescents used social media while watching TV programs to discuss Black women characters. A Social TV scale was created to assess how frequently participants commented on various aspects of a TV character (e.g., clothes, behaviors, relationships) via social media. WebBlack women’s high ownership of mobile technology gives them access to a multitude of apps and sites (including social networks) and is a key driver of the way their time is spent consuming media. For example, Facebook (72%) is the top social media networking site used by Black women.
